History – It all started in 1939. Today the third generation of the Vidler family manages the store which has become a local landmark and destination point for shoppers near and far. The 5 & 10 is easily recognized by the red and white awning, gingerbread trim, hand painted, gold leaf sign, and the colossal “Vidler on the Roof”. Inside you see the original wooden floors, big open counters (the same ones that Grandma… and Great Grandma browsed) and a store chock full of every kind of merchandise imaginable from lace doilies to music cd’s.
Half the Fun of Vidler’s is just wandering around and discovering all the nooks and crannies. Candy – See the incredible selection of old-time favorites such as Necco wafers, Sky Bars, Mallo Cups, Super Daddies, Satellite Wafers, Crystal Beach Suckers, French Chew, wax bottles , rock candy and a variety of chocolates.
Gifts & Jewelry – 3 enticing rooms that flow into each other with a wounderful selection of jewelry, distinctive gifts and home accents. Vidler’s is a 30 minute drive directly south of the Asa Ransom House Country Inn, a good central location for visiting the Niagara Wine Trail, Erie Canal Cruses, Antique World, Niagara Falls among many other popular attractions. The Asa Ransom House is a 10 room historic village Inn built in 1853, with 1975 and 1993 additions. Most rooms have a fireplace, some with porch or balcony, serving a full country breakfast.
