Just an hour away from Asa Ransom House is the incredible Letchworth State Park. This park, called the “Grand Canyon of the East,” features a wide variety of hiking trails, scenic views, a bird conservatory, and many educational events and lectures throughout the year. No wonder this park was given the “Reader’s Choice Award” by USA Today in 2015! The best way to explore this gorgeous park is to hike any of the many trails available to visitors. Explore the Letchworth State Park Trails

The Letchworth State Park trails total to about 66-miles. No matter your skill level or preference, you’ll find a trail perfect for you here. Choose from any of the 22 trails available, like the Gorge Trail. This is the longest path in the park and follows the famous gorge formed by The Genesee River that cuts through the park. This path is seven miles long, so make sure to bring plenty of water and comfortable shoes if you attempt to hike it. The reward for exploring this path, though, it worth every step. You’ll get a view of one of the beautiful waterfalls that have made this park a popular destination. There are plenty of shorter trails that are just as scenic, though. Traverse through the Dam Overlook Trail, which is a little less than three miles long and suitable for all skill levels. You’ll also get a view of one of the three waterfalls in the park.

Attend One of the Letchworth State Park Events

Before you stop in to Letchworth State Park, check to see if there are any events happening during your stay with us. The park frequently holds group hikes, lectures, and conventions during the year. Learn about the beautiful birds that live in the bird conservation areas in the park or the potentially harmful alien species that endanger the trees within the New York area.
